Designing a report

After you create a new report or open an existing report, you are then able to design that report.

To change the report display to design mode, allowing you change the appearance of your report, select the Design button in the toolbar.

Whilst in design mode, you can return to preview mode, at any point to review how your changes have effected the appearance of your report by pressing the Preview button in the toolbar.

Report Sections

The report sections panel represents different sections of a report, to which you can add fields and items from the tools panel. The size of a section will effect the appearance of your report. Reports can contain the following sections:

 

Section

Managed From

Detail Section

This section represents the details section of the report. Anything added to this section will be repeated for each row of data returned by the query.

Always present. Use section options to change the properties of this section.

Page Header

This section represents the page header of the report. Anything added to this section will be repeated at the top of every page of the report.

Use section options to add, remove or change the properties of this section.

Page Footer

This section represents the page footer of the report. Anything added to this section will be repeated at the top of every page of the report.

Use section options to add, remove or change the properties of this section.

Report Header

This section represents the report header. Anything added to this section will appear once at the top of the report.

Report Footer

This section represents the report footer. Anything added to this section will appear once at the bottom of the report.

Use section options to add, remove or change the properties of this section.

Group Header

This section represents the group header. Anything added to this section will be repeated for each group in the specified grouping, and displayed above the group.

Group Footer

This section represents the group footer. Anything added to this section will be repeated for each group in the specified grouping, and displayed below the group.

Fields Panel

The fields panel displays all of the fields available in the query that can be added to your report.

 

 

Report Explorer

The report explorer allows you to view and select each report section and each object they contain.
