DataPA allows reports to contain hyperlinks to any number of child reports called drill down reports. You can add drill downs to any object on your report that supports hyperlinks. See below for details on how to add, delete, modify and duplicate drill down reports to a report.

Adding a drill down report

To add a drill down hyperlink to an object on your report, select the object in the sections panel, press the right mouse button and select Add Drill Down.

Select Add Drill Down will open the query wizard for you to define the data that will populate your drill down report. When defining the child query, you should enter at least one condition to filter your query based on the selected record in the parent report.

Once you have completed the query wizard to define the data that will populate your drill down report, DataPA will show the Run Query Wizard to run the query and retrieve data to use whilst designing your drill down report.

Once the query has run successfully, DataPA will open the drill down report in the report designer allowing you to design the sub report.

To close a drill down report and return to the parent report, select the Close Report button.

Editing a drill down report

To edit the contents of your drill down report, select the object that the drill down relates to in the sections panel, press the right mouse button and select Edit Drill Down.

This will open the drill down report in the report designer allowing you to design the drill down report.

To close a drill down report and return to the parent report, select the Close Report button.

To modify the query that retrieves data for a drill down report, edit the drill down report as described above, then whilst the drill down report it open in the designer, select Data-->Modify Query from the menu.

Deleting a drill down report

Select the drill down report hyperlink object in the sections panel, then press the right mouse button and select Delete Drill Down from the drop down menu.

Duplicating a drill down report

You may want more than one hyperlink object to link to the same drill down report. To apply a drill down report to additional objects, select the drill down report hyperlink object in the sections panel, then press the right mouse button and select Copy Drill Down from the drop down menu.

Select the object you wish to add the drill down report hyperlink to in the sections panel, then press the right mouse button and select Paste Drill Down from the drop down menu.
