Data Viewer

There are two type of data viewers that are created in the work area. The first are query data viewers, created to display the data returned by the queries. The second are drill down data viewers that opened in a floating window when you click on a drill down.

 

 

When default docking is configured, query data grids are docked at the bottom of the work area and hidden. To show the data grid simply click on the tab at the bottom of the work area. For a detailed tutorial on working with the docking interface, see docking in the work area.

Drill down data viewers are created in a floating window when you click on a dashboard object that had a drill down defined. Drill down data viewers can be docked with each other, the work area and all other docking windows it contains. The title of a drill down window consists of the title defined in the drill down definition, followed by the filter that has been applied to the data. The filter is derived from the area of the chart that you have clicked.

 

 

If you press the right mouse button over a data viewer, a popup menu is shown The functions of the popup menu are described below.

Fit column widths to window

Adjusts column widths so all columns are visible in the window

Fit column widths to content

Adjusts column widths so each column fits the width of it's widest content.

Allow Grouping

Shows the grouping header to allow you to group the data. Click on the video below for a demonstration of grouping in the data viewer.

Allow Summary

Shows the summary button (∑) to allow you to add summary data to each column. Click on the video below for a demonstration of using summaries in the data viewer.

Print

Prints the contents of the data viewer.

Print Preview

Opens the print preview dialog with the contents of the data viewer as they will appear if printed.

Export To Excel

Exports the contents of the data viewer to an Excel spreadsheet.

Export To PDF

Exports the contents of the data viewer to a PDF document.

Export to XML Paper Specification (XPS) Document

Exports the contents of the data viewer to an XPS document.
